John Kaag: Thoreau on Making a Living

Princeton University Press

Around town, Henry David Thoreau – the father of “civil disobedience”, or modern nonviolent protest - made a name for himself as the archetypical slacker.  As other adults rushed off to their Boston jobs, he quietly tended to his experiment at Waldon Pond of “living deliberately”.  The philosopher John Kaag just co-authored a timely reflection on our working lives today and how Thoreau’s daring experiment may serve as a guide to re-envision work in the post-Pandemic West.  Come welcome John to our show!
