Opera is all about an extraordinary voice overwhelming its audience with its sound and emotion, right?

Ironically enough, young singers born with that kind of voice tread a more complicated path to the stage than their “normal-voiced” colleagues: few singing teachers know how to train large, unusual voices.

Dolora Zajick knows that complicated path first-hand; despite her talent and promise, no one could guide her, even at the most prestigious conservatories.

But, for the young dramatic voices of today, past doesn’t mean prologue: for over a decade now, Dolora has been guiding to the next generation of young dramatic voices at an institute she founded expressly for that class of singer.

Lucky for us, the Dolora Zajick Institute for Young Dramatic Voices is in full summer swing.  She will take us inside the Institute, where we will meet some of her trainees and hear what opera really sounds like.
