Singing is a serious course of physical and mental therapy

THE BAY AREA, CALIFORNIA/NORMANDY, FRANCE: for some people, singing isn’t just a “fun” leisure activity: it’s a serious course of physical and mental therapy.

Not only does regular singing improve cardiovascular health, it enhances our immune system and improves mental health by releasing endorphins, serotonin and dopamine – the so-called “happy chemicals” – into the brain.

In this special episode, we relive the stories of five heroic women who, through singing, take life’s challenges head-on. Speech-impediments, severe physical handicaps and cancer, are just a few of the hurdles they’ve defied.

Let’s welcome sopranos Rita Lilly, Céline Heutte, Cécile Hubert, mezzo-soprano Mégane Bailleul and alto Catherine Poiré, and discover the healing powers of classical music.
