TORONTO, CANADA: Mozart’s music usually sounds bright and cheerful (e.g. only two of his more than forty symphonies are in minor keys); does that mean it’s superficial?

Not at all, according to pianist Christina Petrowska Quilico. It was Mozart’s music that she and her closest friend and colleague, violinist Jacques Israelievitch, decided would be the last music they would ever play together.

The master violinist was struggling with late-stage cancer and, with months to live, rallied all his strength to finish their marathon recording of Mozart’s complete sonatas and variations.

Navona Records proudly releases this unique six-album collection (eight hours of Mozart) in honor of the tenth anniversary of Israelievitch’s death.

Let’s discover the extraordinary depth of Mozart’s music!
