Roberto Genova: A Message of Hope from Bergamo

Before 2020, the Italian city of Bergamo was most renowned for the Città Alta, a medieval fortress built into a steep hill that towers over the city and defended it from foreign invaders. After years of a non-stop international career, Roberto Genova, a saxophonist and conductor, settled down in that city and dedicated his time to sharing his hard-won knowledge with the students of the Liceo musicale di Bergamo.  What he didn’t expect from his new life was that he and his students would represent Bergamo’s shining face of hope during one of the city’s darkest moments. Come welcome Roberto to our show and get to know what musical heroism is all about.
